California Vacation
Jan 13, 2008 - I can't
believe its been a year since I last updated this site! Well, you can
blame that on my 2 1/2 years old cutie Vaneeza. Anyway, we spent most of
our 2 weeks Christmas break in Los Angeles at Bhai Jan's house. It was
really nice to be in sunny and 20'C+ everyday weather. My younger
brother Anwar and family came from Boston also. We did mostly relaxing
outdoor things like hiking, beaches and long walks. On the way back we
drove up on the coastal highway thru the Redwoods of Northern California
and Oregon. Those giant trees are absolutely massive and amazing to see.
We came back thru Sacramento, Redwoods National Park, beautiful
Portland, Spokane and Cranbrook spending a day in each city.
Unfortunately, we came back to snow and -20'C weather - a 40'C shift!
Here We Go Again... Move to
Edmonton!
Jan 2, 2007 - Once again we are on the move after
2 1/2 years in Calgary, this time to Edmonton. I have accepted a
position with Enbridge Pipelines as a
project manager on the Southern Access Expansion project to upgrade
Enbridge's main pipeline from Edmonton to Chicago. I am staying at a
hotel downtown until I buy a house. The best way to get hold of my is by
email. Wish us the best of luck in Edmonton.
Road Trip of the Western States
July 15, 2006 - We returned
from a wonderful family road trip of the Western States, Montana, Utah,
Idaho, Arizona, California and Nevada. It was our first long trip and it
turned out to be an excellent experience. Got a chance to visit Salt
Lake City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.
You will soon be able to see pictures here.
IEEE Congress
2005
October 18, 2005
- I presented on
"Marketing &
Public Relations"
at the IEEE Congress 2005 in
Tampa, Florida. It was my first time attending the Congress and it was
an excellent learning experience. I attended most of the Regions 7
regional meetings. You can view my presentation
here.
First Baby And a New House!
August 18, 2005 - By the grace of God, we had our
first baby child, a beautiful daughter Vaneeza Upal on May 11, 2005. She
is now 3 months old and keeps us very busy. She has brought tremendous
happiness and joy in our life. We also bought a house in Calgary in
March 2005.
Little Tidbits
October 10, 2004 - We've finally shifted into an
apartment in Calgary. Thank God. Staying in a hotel and eating out was
getting to be very uncomfortable and proving rather unhealthy. Life has
started to shift into normal gears and I've now officially moved out of
Saskatchewan after almost 15 years!
Here are some
pictures taken from the balcony of our apartment on 32nd floor in
downtown Calgary. Enjoy.
The Big Move to
Calgary!
August 22, 2004 - I have accepted a job
with
Altalink Management Inc. in Calgary as a project manager responsible
for managing power transmission projects in Alberta. I move
here in August. I will be staying in a hotel for
the month of September. Email is the best way to get hold of me until I
find a permanent place of residence.
