Regional Systems
Analysts
TransCanada Pipelines
April 99 – June 2000 TransCanada Transmission,
Regina, SK
I lead the
regional application and hardware support for Windows NT&98, Novel, Unix
Email and Mac. I administered network, server and telecomm issues,
monitored problem resolution and organized training. I managed many
small and medium projects concurrently such as regional IT budgeting,
forecasting future needs, overlooking computer donations, scheduling
tasks and projects in the region according to priorities and business
impact. I managed the Mac-to-Intel migration of many hundred’s of
computers, printers, etc. in the region. I overlooked the regional
network upgrades. I harmonized the Foothills Pipe Lines’ IT and network
structure and equipment with that of TransCanada. I ensured business
systems were Y2K ready, and risk was mitigated through compliance with
corporate direction, and identification and resolution of potential
technical problems. I contributed to corporate cost management
objectives and direction to rationalize regional IT assets, products and
services within my regional budget and resources.
Networks Support
Specialist
Alcatel Networks
Aug - Dec 98
Strategic Networks Support,
Ottawa, ON
I provided the highest level of TDM and ATM technical support for
Alcatel’s customers in Canada and Latin America Region. Using Alcatel’s
3600/3645 MainStreet Bandwidth Manager, 46020 Advanced Network Manager,
GUI, NMTI, and Lab Data Test Devices, I simulated customer network
problems in the Alcatel's Advanced Telecommunications Lab. I set up and
configured networks using small and large multiplexers (i.e. 3612
MainStreet Narrowband Mux), bridges and frame relay and X.25 packet
switching cards to set up T1, E1, V.35, X.21 network links for voice and
data.
Applications
Developer
Human
Resources Development Canada (HRDC)
Jan – April 98
Labour Operations Application Development,
Ottawa, ON
I coded Perl based cgi-scripting in X-Windows powered by Linux. One of
my main projects was "Meta tags Checker and Injector". Interfaced
through the intranet with password restriction, users were able to view
their web pages and page Meta entries (via checker), fill in a form to
enter Meta tags and then inject them (via injector) to the respective
HTML files. I also made file security daemons to check for integrity of
server files from unauthorized tampering. My last project was a Username
Database Manager to create and manage usernames and passwords for Linux
accounts. It offered options such as deletion, creation, print, save,
load, etc. of the database entries.
